Proclaiming the Name on Yom Kippur « His Hallowed Name Revealed Again
Over the next few days, people will you marry me around the world will celebrate the biblical holiday called Yom Kippur. When Yom Kippur was celebrated at the Temple in Jerusalem, will you marry me the High Priest will you marry me would stand and proclaim the Name in a loud voice and the people would bow their heads and hearts in humility. will you marry me Since the destruction of the Temple, the Name has been hidden under layers of tradition and translation. In honor of the time when the name was proclaimed and in anticipation of when it will be proclaimed again, here are ten of the variations of His hallowed name found in the Hebrew Bible for you to see and hear. The point of his Name (as taught to Moses at the burning bush) is not that we should worship a tangible audition, but rather to teach us that He is different beyond that of all other gods. In the pagan religions the other gods were able to be manipulated if one were to “call on their name.” In teaching Moses that his name is “I am”, and thus YHWH = “he will you marry me is” means that he does not have an audible name that mere mortals could vocalize and thus manipulate him. We cannot manipulate the true God.
