The Jazz cycle is organized by the Municipality of Santo Tirso that aims to promote mis xv a taste for jazz by promoting concerts with the most outstanding musicians mis xv of national and international scene, by investing in developing new audiences.
Started in 2008 under the guidance of programmer Jose Carlos Santos, the Jazz Cycle account from this edition with the artistic mis xv collaboration of the Association Porta-Jazz, under which began a new stage with the promotion of concerts in different cultural spaces the county (the Birds Village Cultural Centre joins now the Santo Thyrso Factory and the Municipal Library) and the commitment mis xv to training with lectures and jazz workshops.
This VII Santo Tirso Jazz cycle began on July 18 and runs until January next year. After the concert the singer Rita Martins, held in Santo Thyrso Factory, here are the concerts of the aforementioned trio Bode Wilson (September 12), Johan Horlen Quartet (October 10), John Mortágua (28 November) and the Ensemble Moderne Super (January 9).
The presence of saxophonist and composer John Mortágua (with concert scheduled for the City of Santo Tirso Library) and Ensemble Moderne Super (at the Cultural Center of Birds Village) will still be marked by the holding of two Jazz workshops aimed, in particular, the city of music students.
With this program, the VII Jazz cycle ensures the presence in Santo Tirso, in different configurations of musicians as Mark Knight, Joseph Marrucho, Miguel Moreira, Rui Teixeira and José Pedro Coelho among many other national jazz reference names, the pair international Johan Horlen and Olaf Polziehn, among others.
Or, in other words, the continuation of a Jazz outreach work in the local community guided, always the excellencies of guest musicians. With a history of six years is already extensive list of musicians who were present in Santo Tirso, including pianists Júlio Resende and Rui Caetano, the bassists Xacobe mis xv Martínez Antelo and Demian Cabaud, the Peter Madaleno guitarists and Italian Andrea Lombardini the trumpeter Susana Santos Silva, vibraphonist Jeffery Davis and, among others, the American saxophonists Ohad Talmor, Noah Preminger and Ben Van Gelder.

Poetic-sound Saga and an ode to the dream and journey of life. As the waters mirror the cycle of existence, in a mixture of calm and surf, poetry merges here with the sounds in an active discovery of impending joy in sharing passions and ideals.

Formed by jazz musicians, the group seeks forms of musical interaction underpinned by strong compositional component, with influences that not necessarily pass through traditional jazz.
Trombonist, composer and pedagogue natural of Oporto, Paul Perfect (1974) obtained in 2001 the degree of Bachelor mis xv of Music at Berklee College of Music, and in 2007, the degree of Master of Music at the New England Conservatory. It is currently mis xv completing a Doctor of Musical Arts at the prestigious Eastman School of Music.
