We were so excited when Nick Knowles and the DIY SOS team turned up last week. They were in Whiteley filming with Haanagh and Mike Smith, with their kids Reuben, burial Zachary and Harry. But because of the rubbish weather they needed somewhere dry and warm to do some interviews.
A friend of ours, Matthew Davis (M.L. Davis Carpenter & Joiner) and was working on the project with them. He suggested Donny’s and we got a phone call from the DIY SOS producer to ask if it was OK if they did some filming in Donny’s. Obviously we were incredibly excited and honoured and more than happy to oblige.

Do bridal makeup you ever feel like your relationship is a bit like this beach…a bit bleak and lacking in WAVES?! Do you find that you’ve bridal makeup become complacent in your house? Do you sit on opposite couches, after the kids are in bed and stare blankly at the television without talking? Or worse yet, are you on one laptop blogging and Tweeting while your other half is watching telly/on the iPad/snoring? Or even worse still, are you in the opposite rooms of the house and text/email/Tweet each other if you want/need something? Is the word “date” a four letter word and/or something you eat?
Thankfully, the Cafe Bebe house is not entirely like this BUT it has been AT LEAST 6 months bridal makeup since the last time Mark and I went on a date. I say AT LEAST as I truly can’t remember WHEN our last date was. I do remember that we went to a really lovely curry restaurant in the village next to ours but when…no clue! Now Mark and I have a very good relationship. 6 years after meeting, falling in love and moving continents, we still LIKE each other, enjoy spending time together, kiss (etc…) and are happier now than in the early days. Yes, our life is completely different and sometimes stressful and frustrating but ultimately we’re totally committed to each other and to our marriage.
Our relationship isn’t perfect by any means and I know that we can both admit that there are times when we do each other’s heads in. We get cross with each other, I stomp, he stops talking, we get over it. Life carries on and life is good. But I worry, particularly since having children, bridal makeup that we don’t take enough time for US as a couple. We have slipped into the role of Mummy and Daddy very easily (we even call each other Mummy & Daddy more than we probably should) and we give everything we have to being a family. But what about being Mark and Karin? What about time for us to focus on us and not worry about being Mummy & Daddy? That’s in short supply, for sure!
And I know I’m not alone. Last week I did a quick poll on Twitter asking when was the last time you went on a date with your other half. One response was promising…two weeks ago! Most responses were just like mine…”can’t remember”, “six months ago”, “2 years ago”. And by “date”, I mean going somewhere/doing something bridal makeup that does not involve the children. We must change this! Relationship SOS to the rescue!
I’m challenging you, that’s right, YOU! It’s August 1st today. You have 31 days to make arrangements for and go on AT LEAST ONE date with your other half. It doesn’t have to be big, clever bridal makeup or uber-romantic. It just has to be OUT with your other half…the two of you…ALONE together. You could do something as simple as have the inlaws babysit for a few hours and you two go to the pub for a drink/snack. Or you could push the boat out and go to dinner, go golfing, go sailing, go dancing. Or, if like many, you don’t have resources for babysitters, put the kids to bed, have a picnic dinner on the floor of the lounge with the telly OFF and just TALK. Simples.

Write up a post this week telling us about you and your other half and a bit about your relationship (keep it clean sister). Tell us the last time you went on a date with your other half and WHY you need to commit bridal makeup to this challenge. This first month it will be up to YOU to organise, plan and orchestrate the date. Next month, challenge your other half to do the same. After all, you both have to WORK to keep your relationship alive.

February 14-16 , the concert series represents one of the first camping music festivals of the new year. Tickets for the weekend event are also a bargain compared to many other festivals, currently priced at a discount rate of $155.
Part of the fun of festivals is discovering new bands. Sometimes fans can get too caught up in trying to box bands into familiar genres. AURA veterans Papadosio are one of the many bands blending organic and electronic elements to create a unique sound that often defies characterization.
“People need to compare bands to other bands, that is how a genre is started, but if people were to just listen to a band as its own thing, it would feel like less of a competition and more like a celebration,” Sam Brouse of Papadosio explains.
There will be numerous other stellar acts including Lotus and return headliners and Disco Biscuits offshoot Conspirator . Other popular bands such as The Revivalists , Zoogma , Marco Benevento and Particle will be welcome support. Other returning bands are Florida band The Heavy Pets , Kung Fu , and Dopapod ramadan mubarak among others.
Arguably the best reason to pay a visit to AURA next weekend is simply to enjoy the beauty and splendor of the Spirit of Suwannee Music Park. The venue is truly a sight to behold, with natural amphitheater settings immersed within a forest of live oaks draped delicately with spanish moss. Many love the freedom of being able to hang up a hammock and relax in-between shows or even during the music. ramadan mubarak
Suwannee is a camping festival with just a touch of comfort. Real bathrooms and showers are available for free in the campgrounds. If one does not feel like cooking, the S.O.S. Cafe located near the entrance serving up meals most of the day. Also, one must remember that as a festival for fans in the know, there will be smaller ramadan mubarak crowds and laid back vibes.
There will also be a preparty on thursday night for an additional charge of $30, extending the event to four full nights of music. Live Oak, Fla. is just over four hours from downtown Mobile along I-10. The venue is home to many of the best and most closely located festivals along the Gulf Coast. Save Our Shores is a founding member of this aquatically-conscious community, some would say the founding member.
Save Our Shores is the Central Coast s oldest ocean conservation group. Citizens originally formed it in 1978 to stop offshore oil drilling in the Monterey Bay. And they succeeded! Establishing the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary was their next monumental win. And today, keeping our home an ocean-paradise is a priority for this hands-on and highly effective organization.
And as I learned in my October interview with SOS Executive Director, Laura Kasa, this dynamic organization so active in organizing Santa Cruz Coastal Cleanup Days, tabling at every local environmental event and tirelessly initiating protective legislation must require a huge staff, right? oohlala At least I thought so until I checked out their web site . There are a total of five SOS staff members (six if you count Denali, oohlala the office mascot and dog).
But now our friends as SOS are sending out an OK I won t go there call for help. For many years, the State of California helped to SOS to stay viable by funding dozens of ocean classroom presentations and hundreds of cleanup projects in this region. But due to the state s economy, this much-needed funding oohlala has now ended.
Save Our Shores will lose $100,000 from the state in 2012, and possibly over the next few years too. Many of your favorite beaches could face abandonment from government-funded cleanups, and are at risk for imminent closures. And this is why the board and staff of Save Our Shores is initiating a California Challenge . SOS needs help from the community to bridge the gap in operating expenses created by this unfortunate loss of funds. Let s all become a part of this effort to keep our greatest resources intact! Take part today to ensure clean beaches in 2012 and to foster our ocean advocates of tomorrow:

Errands for Elders is Bailey’s unique service program kata kata gokil that offers youth the opportunity to give back to the elder community by assisting elders with day-to-day chores. The goal of the program is to build relationships between elders and youth. This program supports our intergenerational oral history project by providing a forum for the stories of the elders to be heard, collected, celebrated and honored. Please join them Friday, December 2, 2011, 6 PM to 8:30 PM to meet and greet the participants kata kata gokil who are excited about working with our Errands For Elders program.
